The West Covina Fire Department requires and enforces both operational and construction permits, in accordance with the California Fire Code. Permits are issued on a temporary or annual basis.
The West Covina Fire Prevention Bureau conducts plan reviews of all construction projects within the City. All projects, with the exception of fire protection and life safety systems are to be submitted directly to the West Covina Building Division; a copy will be forwarded to the Fire Prevention Bureau and reviewed for compliance with the 2019 California Fire Code, 2019 California Building Code, California Health & Safety Code, and West Covina Municipal Code (WCMC).
