Building Division

The Building Division enforces safety, health, welfare and property maintenance standards for both public and private development, and provides construction management oversight for public construction. It is divided into two sections: Building, and Building Construction.

Utilizing the California Building Codes, the Building Section is responsible for insuring that all private developments within the city conform to construction and safety standards through comprehensive plan review, permit issuance, and inspection. Proper compliance with approved plans is obtained through field inspections associated with this work.

Building Division forms can be printed out, filled in, and returned to the counter of the Building Division. These forms can be found on the Community Development Applications, Permits, and Forms Page.

The Building Construction Section administers and oversees the application of California Public Contract Law and Standard Specifications for Public Works Construction to construct, remodel, and renovate City-owned buildings and structures.

Effective Immediately: To ensure efficient and effective service, the Building Division is no longer accepting applications via email. The One Stop Building Permit Center is a single place for residence and developers to submit and coordinate projects and plan checks. Please submit all applications, plans, and supporting documents to the City's One Stop Building Permit Center Portal by selecting the "Building Submittal Link":

We will be processing applications on a first come, first serve basis, as they are submitted. Correspondences will be sent via the GoPost portal and from the City Building Division staff directly.

Of course, the City Building Division is open to receive applications in person at our Building Counter as well Monday through Thursday from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm.
